DIVINE HALIBURTON

Divine Haliburton, my latest guide is almost here and in collaboration with documentary photographer Charlyne Thorn, is a meditative quest to freely roam its white pine forests from the comfort of our homes.

It's a different kind of guide and slim, a digital book (a printed book could be made in the future), not to find the best camping spot but to prompt our senses through the images and words to feed the imagination for wandering, to take us on a cozy adventure anytime, and wherever we want to take the first step with the mind to escape not only to Haliburton Highlands Ontario.

We begin next week with the design and layout of the book and photos. And the final draft of the guide should be in our hands by then too, thanks to poet Katie Beaton (editor) while she fits us in her 9-5 as an editor for Tellwell Publishing. Our aim is to have it arrive by Christmas.

Just one more thing. If you believe in Santa (I do), he'd surely want us to untangle from the string of Christmas lights and enjoy some spiced nog or a cocktail or two before the bells start ringing, to get our spirits singing fa la la. And, to cheer him on and Rudolf to sleigh in on schedule.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
